A year in review
2024 was a landmark year for Peel Waters.
As the calendar year draws to a close, take a look at some of the key highlights from our Land & Commercial/Industrial and Logistics portfolio including us securing planning permission for a transformational logistics scheme and acquiring two new sites; as well as what announcements and milestones to look out for in 2025.
Planning approved for transformational logistics scheme in Salford – Halo West
In July, Salford City Council approved our plans for a 108,553 Sq. Ft. new logistics and industrial development in Salford.
The scheme named Halo West, has been designed to make full use of its strategic location next to J11 on the M60, allowing future users of the site access within minutes to the ring motorway, and from there the major aerial routes of the M62 and M6.
Reflection from Peter Linstead, Development Director – Logistics at Peel Waters:
“We are very pleased to receive the planning approval for this fantastic scheme which will transform a long-underutilised brownfield site in Salford.
“Halo West has been designed to be a best-in-class logistics scheme with exceptional sustainability credentials, building specifications and transport connections. The scalability of the development and excellent location will attract a wide range of occupiers which will create new jobs and promote economic growth for the local area”.

Ardwick land sale and plans approved for 24 affordable homes in Manchester
Working in partnership with Jigsaw Homes Group and Manchester City Council, 24 new affordable homes will be built in Ardwick, Manchester following planning approval and the acquisition of our site in July.
The homes, which will be available for social rent, will be allocated by Manchester City Council to meet local housing need as part of the Single Homeless Accommodation Programme (SHAP) and residents will receive tailored support through Jigsaw Support to help them on the path to living independently.
Reflection from Garnet Fazackerley, Operations Director of Development at Jigsaw Homes Group
“We have a strong track record of delivering quality, affordable housing and we are pleased to have acquired the land from Peel Waters so we can transform this unused site into more much-needed homes. We are looking forward to working with Manchester City Council, Homes England, DLUHC and our partners to bring this scheme to life.”

Peel Waters’ first sites in the North East and South West acquired
In March, we acquired two new sites from Peel Ports – Hebburn which is situated on the River Tyne in the North East of England, and Falmouth in Cornwall. The acquisition of the new sites strengthens the Peel Waters portfolio and diversifies the regions in which we operate, providing new opportunities and growth.
