a catalyst for other schemes

Millers Quay Wirral Waters (Peel Waters) was shortlisted with Beecham’s Building, St Helens, The Interchange, Stockport (Cityheart, Rise Homes) and Pall Mall Press, Liverpool (GRAHAM) for the Build-to-Rent Development of the Year.

Millers Quay scooped the top award as ‘The judges were impressed with how the design responds to the location. They said it has a uniqueness to the place and has sustainable credentials. The Public private partnership is unrivalled. It can be a catalyst for other schemes.’

The development which consists of 500 striking new homes across five colourful towers on the waterside, has been developed by in partnership with funding partner, Pension Insurance Corporation plc (“PIC”), construction firm GRAHAM Group, with support from Homes England and Wirral Council – all of whom have been instrumental in its delivery.

Phil Kerridge, who has been the Project Director overseeing the delivery of the development said: “Millers Quay is an awesome development and it’s been a privilege to play a part in seeing its completion. It’s been a huge team effort and credit to GRAHAM’s for ensuring it has been delivered on time and on budget!

By having Wirral Met College’s Wirral Waters Construction Campus on site, we have managed to work with students and apprentices throughout the delivery of these 500 new homes, providing them with real-life work experience opportunities to work on a live project of scale and continue upskilling. We hope everyone who has been involved in the construction of this colourful landmark development feels as proud of it as we do.

Paul Mawdsley continued: “Located at a brownfield site, and with substantial innovations required to hit its ambitious sustainability targets, Liverpool Waters has unique needs that all had to be considered when finding the right contractor. Through rigorous procurement procedures, GRAHAM has been appointed to fulfil the requirements and we look forward to keeping up with the project as it develops.”

The infrastructure works and central park at Central Docks Liverpool Waters is expected to be completed by winter 2027.
